How to Install and Configure 2X ApplicationServer in 30 Minutes

Estimated time: 30 minutes. Assumes you have: a Windows Server (2008 R2 / 2012 / 2016 — or similar compatible OS) with Administrative rights, Terminal Services / Remote Desktop Services enabled (if publishing from a Terminal Server), and network connectivity between server and clients.

1) Quick checklist (2 minutes)

  • Server OS up to date and joined to domain (or on workgroup as needed).
  • Administrative account credentials.
  • Download 2X ApplicationServer/XG MSI and license key (evaluation or purchased).
  • Client machines accessible for testing.

2) Install 2X ApplicationServer (5–8 minutes)

  1. Double-click the 2X ApplicationServer MSI installer on the server.
  2. Follow the installer wizard: accept license, choose installation folder, click Next.
  3. When prompted, paste the license key (or select trial).
  4. Allow the installer to open required firewall ports (or note which ports to open).
  5. Finish and launch the 2X Management Console.

3) Prepare source server(s) (3 minutes)

  • If publishing from a Terminal Server / RDS host: ensure Remote Desktop Services role is installed and users have appropriate RD licensing/CALs.
  • If publishing from the local server, ensure the applications you want to publish are installed and tested locally.

4) Add servers to the 2X Console (3 minutes)

  1. Open 2X Management Console → Servers (or Host).
  2. Click “Add Server” → enter server hostname or IP, admin credentials.
  3. Verify connection (status should show online).

5) Publish your first application (5–7 minutes)

  1. In Console, choose Publish New Application (or Applications → Add).
  2. Select source server (the one added). Choose application type: Published Application
